eGIX Selects General Bandwidth for Nationwide IP Centrex Roll Out
Austin, TX., June 22, 2004–General Bandwidth®, a leading Voice over IP equipment manufacturer enabling rapid deployment and new revenue generation over broadband networks, has been selected by eGIX, one of the largest privately-held integrated communications providers in the United States, to support a national roll out of SIP-based IP Centrex services over their T1 and DSL facilities.
With a facilities based network operating in 37 of the top 50 metropolitan service areas, eGIX is expanding its competitive service offerings to deliver integrated voice, video, data, and IP Centrex services to small and medium-sized businesses throughout its service areas. With initial deployment in the Midwest, eGIX also plans to roll out integrated voice, video, and data nationally through its existing carrier relationships and its Distributor Network.
“eGIX takes great pride in identifying innovative voice and data services which maximize efficiency, reduce costs associated with duplicating services and meet the individual needs of our business customers,” said Andy Gorogiani, Executive Vice President of Sales for eGIX. “The flexibility of General Bandwidth’s solution to support a variety of voice service architectures allows us to maximize those offerings today with the ability to introduce new services in the future.”
Leveraging the G6 platform’s ability to support VoIP Business Services (VBS), eGIX has the ability to provide a “burstable” data & voice service over a single broadband connection including DSL, cable modem, and T1 which is far superior to current service offerings and a much more attractive, competitive offering for the business customer. The G6 VoIP Media Gateway supports a variety of line and trunk signaling protocols over VoIP for POTS, key system, IP Centrex and PBX customers. In addition, eGIX plans to provide Virtual Office services for customers seeking to eliminate the need for expensive upgrades and hardware investments by converging their voice, data, video and cell phone communications.
“General Bandwidth is very pleased that eGIX has selected the G6 VoIP Media Gateway to expand their small business communications solutions portfolio,” stated Brendon Mills, President and CEO of General Bandwidth. “The G6 platform, through its VoIP Business Service application, will help enable eGIX to rapidly expand their already impressive service offering for their customer-base giving them affordable, fully scalable and customized product offering capabilities.”
