eGIX Partners with Kidsnet to Provide Parent-Controlled Internet Surfing for Kids

Carmel, IN, August 28, 2003–eGIX, Inc. today announced an agreement with Jacksonville, Florida-based Kidsnet that would allow more than 30,000 eGIX Internet subscribers throughout Indiana and Illinois to take advantage of Kidsnet - a powerful computer tool specially designed to keep web content safe for children of all ages who use the Internet.

According to Steve Johns, President of eGIX, the deal calls for all existing eGIX Velocity Access (accelerated dial-up) customers to get a free year of Kidsnet -- a $40 value. A one time setup fee may apply. After that period, customers can sign up for Kidsnet through eGIX at a discounted rate.

Kidsnet is far different from a simple filtering system that relies on key words alone. Instead, Kidsnet has utilized certified human screeners to review and rate web sites representing over 98% of WWW traffic. Artistic, educational, medical and violent content (including subjective violence and to whom it is directed) are all taken into consideration. Children can not access a web site unless Kidsnet has first rated its content and parents have authorized a level of access for each child.

This ongoing review process provides parents peace of mind in knowing what their children are accessing online is truly within their control.
